sometimes, i got customers who want me to backup their scratched vcds. Some of these vcds are lightly scratched and some of them with deep scratched...

since im using nero 6, is there an option in nero that i can check/uncheck to lessen the possibility of skipping frame/stopping in the middle of the movie in my backup vcds...copying the vcd first to my HD or creating an image seems to work better than making a quick copy or cd to cd copy in nero 6 when it comes to copying scratched vcds. do you agree?

please give me suggestions first in using nero 6 to correct my problem, but other suggested softwares and solutions are also are also appreciated

This has been asked and answered a couple of hundred times here, but this is my method of how I backup damaged discs:

Wash the disc in warm soapy water and dry to get the crud off, then use some sort of wax to fill in the small scratches and polish it gently with a soft cloth, not in a circular motion.

I use car wax, no particular brand. Some people have reported good results with candle wax. If that doesn't do it, you need to buff out the big scratches with a 'very' mild abrasive such as toothpaste or Brasso. Then wax it.

Of course, you do this at the risk of permanent damage to the disc.

I prefer this to trying to use software to read a damaged disk because usually all they will do is skip the damaged parts and you end up with a copy no better the the damaged original.

  3. 321 Studios' DVD X Rescue or CD X Rescue will do a good job.

I use ISObuster to extract the dat file... skipping any unreadable data. Then i use vcdgear to fix errors. Then reauthor the vcd. Usually works like a charm!
