This new model is called ND3500. Read about this in here: http://www.nec.co.uk/DVD_RW_ND3500.aspx
I wonder what would be the DL burning speed.

it says:
For 4x write on DVD +R9 media disc, please use NEC-recommended 2.4x discs (the expected write speed might not be obtained under certain conditions) -
I wonder how the 12x and 16x write strategies will compare to the Pioneer DVR-108.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
another war between pioneer and nec....
i still use my Nec 1100 at 4X....and don't feel like replaceing it...... -
I'm at 4x myself (DRU-500 / DVR-105), but I'm going DL soon. I'm not too impressed with the high speed burning results I've seen on the Pioneer. Hoping for better on the NEC. Otherwise, I'll probably just go with the LG GSA-4120.

2.4x speed is definitely crap ... way too slow. Will wait for at least 4x or 8x speed DL before upgrading.

Did you know that Office Depot has an IOMAGIC 16X -+ Duel Layer burner onsale and in stock for $149.99. So I wonder when NEC will release theirs since IO MAgics is out already. Then again I wonder if the IOmagic version is the OEM NEC....
