No such thing as 120 min / dvd. You can store several hours / dvd but more minutes means worse quality. www.videohelp.com/dvd

If you want an easy all-in-one tool that can convert your video to dvd try winavi video converter.

A DVD will hold 4.37 GB, how much time you fit on that is up to you. I can get up to 5 hours of decent quality video, it's all in the bitrate that you use.

    PS, PLEASE DON"T SHOUT.

WHAT IS THE GO WITH ALL CAPITALS ???

As mentioned, you can fit more than 120 mintues per DVD. The bitrate of your audio and video determines how much time you can fit on one DVD. If you lessen the bitrate, you increase the time you can fit on 1 DVD. I won't go into particulars until you tell us what type of file you have because this determines what advice you will get.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    If in doubt, Google it.

OK... so you want to put these two movies onto the 1 DVD-R ?

I might add that to this point, it is very difficult to determine exactly what course of action we should recommend to you. I realise that your knowledge in this area may not be extensive, but the more help you can provide us will enable us to recommend better solutions for you.

Anyway, so assuming that you want both on the 1 DVD-R, the next step is to find out some details about the files. We need to know format (PAL/NTSC), frame rate (23.976, 25, or 29.976 fps) and audio type (PCM, MP3, AC3).
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. I gotta ask just to be sure that we are not giving you more info than you need. You want to be able to play this on a DVD player or just a computer?

  11. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

this is going to be my second time trying to burn a dvd, can somebody tell me if these steps are correct or am i missing something......

    1) open up my tmpgenc 3.0xpress program
    2) load in my clips (ex: mpeg, avi , wmv or quicktime)
    3) convert the clips to mpeg2
    4) join the parts of the movie together
    5) burn dvd

i know there is a step between 4 and 5 that is called author, i have no clue on how to do this step. i did the reading and it's still very confusing. is it better to use tmpgenc or tmpgenc author.......if someone could walk me through the steps i would be greateful.

  12. can you play non standard vcds? that is if you want to put them on one cd? if so i would burn them to cd because you are basicly wasting a dvd if you just want to burn just one movie on dvd.

TMPGEnc is an mpeg encoder and will create DVD compatible mpegs. Look in the blue "what is DVD" section for compatible mpeg types, they can be mpeg1 or 2.

TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA) takes the mpegs and creates the necessary DVD files (vobs, ifo and bup) and structure and adds menus if you choose. It will also burn your dvd to disk.

They are 2 seperate programs. TDA is relatively easy to use and you will find lots of step by step guides for it on this site, look in the green "all guides" section.

BTW, you don't need to join your mpegs before authoring. The authoring step allows you to add as many mpegs as you like until the disk is filled. There will be a slight pause on playback as the player switches tracks. Joining mpegs can be problematic..loss of sync etc.

    Hope that helps.
