    Can anyone give me advice on how to clean a DVD player? My player is making this strange buzzing noise when I play a VCD which it's never done before and it sounds to me as if it needs cleaning.

    Hello
    I would buy a 5 or 10 dollar laser lens cleaner disc (shaped like a cd with a small brush under it) at any retail store or radio shack. If its the lens this will make a big difference. If its the motors in the player you may want to get it serviced (hopefully it's still under warranty ).

    If this buzzing noise is only on one vcd then it could be the cd is warped.

    Also...keep in mind the same effect will happen if you have labeled the disc. If the label is not exactly centered ...it will have the same effect.

    Actually it's on all VCDs but not on the DVDs, therefore I assumed that the player has gotten *dirty* due to the lesser material quality of the CDs. Wrong?
