Has anyone tried the SVCD/MPEG-2 Nero plug-in (the one that you have to buy)?

If anyone has, I'd like to know what you like/don't like about it.

    Thanks.

  2. I've tried it. It's extremely slow in my book. It makes writing svcd easy. It'll convert your avi to svcd compliant mpeg file and burn it. I didn't mess with it a lot but tried it. Problem is I don't know where it saves it on your system. So if you spend 10 hrs letting it encode for you. The next time you want to burn it you have to go through the whole encoding process again. Of course a cd to cd copy would be much quicker then reencoding it, or using a program to extract your mpeg-2 info from your svcd would work also.TMPGENC is faster an much more versatile to use the draw back with that is it has a 30day trial on mpeg2's unless you get version 12a this version doesn't have the mpeg-2 restriction yet. That's what I use if I don't use cinemacraft. I hoped I helped.

  3. It is pretty easy to get around the 30 days trial. And it is written in this forum many times how to do it. So just look around...

I also coughed up the cash (mostly out of my infinite good will toward "Ahead&quot. Same experience as myke -- pretty slow. TMPGEnc is the way to go. Drag and drop the output files right into Nero (SVCD project) and away it goes.

  6. Hi again.
One more thing. Just thought you should try to use vcdimagergui. I use it all the time. And it works like af charm. Se the guide here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdimagergui.htm

The best thing is that you can make the cd (and burn it) directly from your mpeg2 movie. The program make the bin/cue files, and then burn it. In one step. Dont have to convert, and then burn (well maby you can do the same with Nero.... Dont know). And it is free.

    Have fun
