  3. A PS2 forum would be better help than here.

If your mod chip is soldered, you have a bad burn or bad media.
If you are using a swap disc, try another burning/ripping program. Veritas RecordNowDX is almost perfect for ps2 back-ups. Or you are trying to back-up a game that needs to be patched.

For best results: rip and burn at slowest speeds possible.

  4. ok i burned a copy at 1x and it finally loaded to the point where i am able to play the game the problem is now the fmv and the sound cut in and out and at times a ?/cd symbol appears in the right corner of the screen. i may have burn the game at 1x to get to work so far however, i think i didn't create the image at 1x would that make a difference. i'm using memerex media but are the media the are more sutible for backing up ps2 games? yes, my ps2 is soldered with a magic 3 chip and i have played dvd backups that i have ordered online. i post here figuring its a dvd problem. thanks for the help.

  5. Well welcome to $ony quality. I have a PS2 as well and I backup the games for it. Not only is the dvd laser VERY picky when it comes to dvd media, but the lens gets worse with age. I use Ritek G04 discs at 4x in my pioneer 106d and they work fine for the time being. Try different media to see what the best result is. Also, check your model number for the ps2. I believe right now there are about 10 different models. I have a model 5 PS2. $ony updated the laser from versions 2 to 3 and then from 4 to 5. The laser in versions 5, 6, 7, etc, is much better than the laser in versions 4 and below. I am not sure about versions 8, 9, and 10 as I have lost interest in the backup scene.

P.S. As an absolute last resort, there is a way to increase the intesity of the laser by opening your system. You can also buy new laser assemblies online and replace the faulty one (only if the laser is extremely worn out which I doubt unless you were an early adopter of PS2).

  6. What game is this? Is it a cd or dvd game?

Did you copy from an original? What is your mod chip?

Have you thought of searching the forum for 'ps2' ? There are just tons & tons of topics.
