I am trying to make a DVD specifically of the best parts of some movies so I can watch it when I'm bored and etc. The problem is, I can't find out how to copy ONLY certain parts of the movie.
Like if movie is 2:00:00 long, and I just want 00:01:49 - 00:05:26
how would I go about doing that? I don't want to have to rip an entire movie, just to get the scenes I want.![]()
If anyone can help with this PLEASE notify me ASAP. I need to make a short film for an event using this method, and can't seem to figure it out, other than encode full movies then copy pieces I want.
I know you can probably extract certain preset scenes, but they are not cut where I need them to be cut.
ANY advice would be appreciated. thanks.

I've done it two ways - either use ChopperXP to cut the vob down to what you need, and save as a new vob, and import into your authoring software,
or
use DVD Shrink in Reauthor mode, use the Start/End functions to cut down to the scene you want, save as a new vob, import into authoring software.- housepig

thanks for the advise. I think I am going to try the DVD Shrink and possibly the ChopperXP.
Others please still post your methods. -
This is a good guide for what you want to do:

If you know which chapter the required scene is on, then you can rip that chapter only with DVD Decrypter and then use something like Womble or V-Dub to save the bit you want.

well.... so far this is what I managed....
I installed AnyDVD, ChopperXP, and DVD Shrink.
The problem starts here:
The DVD itself has scenes chopped up in the table of contents for you
to skip around chapters. The movie is 5 scenes, but has about 25 chapters within those 5 scenes.
What I've done:
I used DVD Shrink to rip the scene I wanted out completely, but it put the file instead of 1 VOB, as 4 VOB files, 2 being duplicates.
for example:
Movie1_1.vob
Movie1_2vob
Movie2_1.vob
Movie2_2.vob
When ripping it showed movie1 and movie2 so i selected both, because I thought they were the seperate interlace lines of the video or something that show asyncronically or something. I am guessing I am correct, but if anyone knows please help out.
Anyways, after that I looked at them in ChopperXP to see how I could edit it, but instead of letting me open all at once, I can only open 1 file at a time. The problem is, I need the full scene to be as 1 file instead of 2 pieces, also I need to know if I need to rip from both selections of the movie (movie 1 and 2 which seem the same) or what.
I apologize if this is confusing, but I'm tired, have a headache, and really just want to figure this out. By the way, thanks to everyone who replied and gave insight, more help is definately welcomed.
