Hi everyone, I have created a DVD video in my Sony standalone recoder RDR-GX7, and it's about 4.2 GB. The DVD-RW played greate everywhere. I decided to make a backup "DVD+R" for everyday use, and keep my DVD-RW as my original. I copied the only folder in the DVD-RW "Video_TS" to my hard drive, then I burned it to DVD+R using Nero 6 "DVD-ROM (ISO)" option. the bgackup was went well. I'm able to play it in any of my PCs, but when I try it in my Toshibas standalon player, it says "disk error", but When I put the original DVD-Rit works fine. I've played DVD+r many time in the Toshiba stanalone player before.
Does anyone have any sugestions of where I went wrong? I think that by me copying to the folder to the hard drive may have something to do with it, but I'm not sure how else to go about it. Since when I tried to do a "DVD cpoy" option in Nero 6, it tells me that my DVD+R does not have enough space, witch I don't see why beacuse the DVD-RW it's no more than 4.2GB.
Any sugestions will be appreciated. thak you.

You copied the DVD Video files onto your harddrive - so far, so good. You then used Nero 6 to burn a DVD ISO of those files - what's wrong with this picture ?
Video - ISO ?
You have created a backup of the files, which will play on the PC because it sees it as data. You standalone's won't recognise it because it's not a Video disk.
Try burning again, this time using DVD Video in Nero. Add the contents of the original Video_TS directory into the Video_TS directory Nero sets up for you. You should then be able to play this in your standalone. -
...or simply rip the original with DVDDecrypter in ISO mode, then write the ISO back to your backup copy with DVDDecrypter.

Just a guess here.
You might try adding an empty AUDIO_TS folder to the a DVD +R disk. Sometimes a player will not play a disk without an AUDIO_TS folder, even though it may be empty. It might be some combination of DVD +R without the AUDIO_TS file that is causing the disk to not play, even though the original DVD-RW with only the VIDEO_TS folder plays OK. Who knows what the player firmware is doing?
If the other DVD +R disks that you say played OK *do* contain empty AUDIO_TS folders, then this might be a solution. Of course, you can't go back and add the AUDIO_TS to the existing DVD +R, so you've already wasted that one. -
Don't start advising him to do esoteric stuff.
The problem is that he burned a DATA DVD instead of a VIDEO DVD. Very very very very simple.

Just do a disk copy, dont worry about making ISO or Anything else, if you made a master copy already and it plays, then just copy the disk. A plan ole normal copy.

Ok, here's the confusion.
ISO FORMAT refers to ISO9660, a standard format used for discs.
.ISO is a FILE FORMAT which can be used to burn an image of a disc...
The catch? .ISO files can contain VIDEO discs, data discs, audio, etc. etc.
So when you say "make an ISO" or "burn an ISO" you mean that you're making an image and/or burning an image.
HOWEVER, when you tell Nero to make an ISO disc, it makes a DATA disc... NOT a VIDEO disc.
Follow?
You don't have to do disc-to-disc. If it's a DVD5, fire up DVD Decrypter, and hit "ISO Read", then when it's done do "ISO Write". Super simple.
Or, you could do the copy with Nero, or any other program really.

P.S. In case it wasn't clear enough... you dragged FILES to your hard drive. You told Nero to make a DATA disc. That's why it didn't work. I don't recommend rebuilding the Video disc with Nero, just make a copy of the +RW. -

but I've read lots of problems with disc-to-disc DVD copying...
Never had any visual problems, Only problem's I heard of with disc-to-disc DVD copying is having legal problems.

I guess They said it will cause alot of problem! Who is They?
Never had any visual problems
But as to the issue about problems doing disc-2-disc copies of a DVD - Writing stuff to writable CD/DVD media is tricky to start with. To me, everything I can do for my computer to make the task easier (hence upping chance of succeeding), I do. Reading and writing simultaneously is harder (try it yourself!) than first reading, then writing. Thus, I avoid that, and recommend that method to others. If d2d works flawlessly to you, well, good for you.

What I was saying was to use nero or any program to copy the Mastered RW, by copying the master you dont do any setting change i.e ISO or DATA DVD. He made the Original, it plays fine, just make a copy of the that disk.
Making a disk does not have to be on the fly, you can make a copy of it, then burn from your image file(there are other ways too).
I have been reading some Post and some people make the simpliest task so difficult and it's not that hard to do. -

Then we all agree:
you can make a copy of it, then burn from your image file== rip the original with DVDDecrypter in ISO mode, then write the ISO back to your backup copy with DVDDecrypter. - Just different ways to say the same thing

Mats is right. There is NO NEED AT ALL to copy the files to your hard disc, and have ANY program make a new VIDEO DVD for you.
Just copy it.
Seriously.
