Hi,
I ripped one clip from a DVD. It's a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Then, used TMPGEnc to encode to SVCD NTSC.
1 - I encoded two new clips. The only setting that was different was the Aspect Ratio (in the Video Tab of TMPGEnc). I think this setting refers to the output file. In the Advanced Tab the setting of the aspect ratio is 16:9 (as this is the source aspect ratio) for the two clips.
The only change was:
clip1 - aspect ratio (Video Tab) - 4:3;
clip2 - aspect ratio (Video Tab) - 16:9;
What I got (using PowerDVD to play the clips):
clip1 has top and botton black borders (it's ok) and looks better than clip2;
clip2 has not black borders and the screen is bigger than the clip1, but I notice that the image quality of clip1 is still better.
The difference of the file size is only 3MG.
Shouldn't clip2, at least, have the same image quality as clip1?
2 - For the audio I used TMPGEnc with the option of using external engine like Toolame. Is this a good choice or could it be better?
Thanks
