I have a couple of avi files that i need to 'touch' up. There is some colour correction needed;i.e the file has a lot of blue, green and yellowish streaks within the film-mainly around very bright scenes or those with quite striking colours. e.g. a scene of the sea/sky would have an opaque-like 'mist' / a 'bleeding' appearance over some of it.

I think it may need passing through a colour correction filter or something like that. Problem is i do not know what program does this. Any suggestions ??

I've tried simple colour correction within TMPGENC but it is still the same.

    Thanks

Well you could fork out $600 for adobe premiere pro. That has a lot of very good color corrections for avi files.

If it is something you are going to fix now, and not need to do on an ongoing basis, download the demo for Vegas, which has pretty strong correction tools. Otherwise look at something like VirtualDub and one of the many plugins. I'm sure you will find one that helps.

Could you be ripping from a MacroVision protected video source?

    You might find this usefull:

    http://trevlac.us/colorCorrection/index.html

That website is put together by Trevlac who is a respected member here and over at the doom9 website.

I played around with it and it is pretty kewl but I'm not sure if I've really 100% figured it out yet
