I'm using autogk to convert my DVDs to AVIs. One thing that i always notice is that the video will lose some of it's colours or rather the vibrancy and brightness of the colours. For example, the AVI not be as red/blue/green/bright as in the DVD file. Is there a better converter out there or is this normal?

How are you comparing the two? DVD player software often adjusts the colors to make the video on your computer monitor look more like a TV (TVs have very different gamma curves than computer monitors). AVI players usually don't do this but you can adjust the graphics card's video overlay proc amp to change the appearance of video.

So the DVD player software makes the colours of a DVD playback more vibrant? Because from what i've seen, the colours of an avi file converted from the DVD is significantly duller.
If that's so, is there any way i could retain the same colours as viewed in the DVD player after converting it to an avi?
