I tried to backup my bone collector dvd. I have always used dvd decryptor and dvd2one then nero.
Well this time I copied the full disk with decryptor..(it is 7.8gigs full movie) so I used dvd2one movie only, and ac3-6.
I burned it and well the movie looks great but all I have is directors commentary on the entire movie...no sound.

I am hoping that someone can tell me what I screwed up so I won't do this again.
I have backed up almost all my collection and never seen this before.
Thanks big time for any pointers

  2. Usually directors comments are on ac3-2. Which stands for 2 channel. You will need these to hear the directors comments. They usually don't waste space using ac3-6 (Dolby Digital) for this. Hope this helps

well I just went back and did a full dvd backup.
NOW I have no sound in the movie.
BUT I have sound in the menus.
This is the craziest thing I have run across yet.

use DVDShrink audio preview so you can see which track to keep

you may be removing streams from the main movie and it now has a 'ghost' stream which is empty and playing on default

you can manually change the 'ghost' stream values using Ifoedit so that no matter what stream is selected by default, it will play a stream that contains audio

MackemX do you mean the audio selection when you right click on the video ?
It says to right click on video to switch audio streams
    Is this correct?

Funny I have seen 2 guides select no audio streams wonder if this works

yes, thats right but thats just for preview and nothing else

if you remove the default stream then you would have to manually edit the IFO's to make it play one of the streams you kept

With DVD2ONE in Full Backup you must check the first audio stream listed. DVD2ONE does not re-write the ifo file. Unless you keep the first listed audio stream you will need to cycle thru the audio streams with your mouse or remote.

wulf109 I get confused on the ac3 stuff.

    this disk has ac3 5.1
    english and french
    ac3 2.1
    and a lot of others.
I was trying to compress this disk down but still have
    a good picture.
    So I used dvd2one
I said ok the 2.1 is a lot smaller than the 5.1 so I chose it.
directors commentary (IF I remember correctly)

so I then went in and used dvd2one again and this time I picked the 5.1 sound track english
NO sound in movie...just some sounds in menus

    OK so dvd2one full disk...
    again no sound....

WAIT 2 channel is directors and 5 channel is NO sound ?
    full disk is no sound??????????????
HUH I KNOW I am nube but this made no since to me

I am out of english selections here

I then noticed one thing on the full disk copy with no sound
It has sound in a 1-2 minute quick preview of other movies they have out ...that plays just before the movie.
So I assume that the audio tracks are for the previews and not the movie.
OK which one is the movie ?

so I tried DVDShrink ....just full disk with extened scan

    it works fine.

I think I wore out my original LOL

I am going to go into dvdshrink and play the movie now and try to see which one of the sound tracks is with the movie

but this is the first disk I have seen like this and it was very weird.
