Hello there, I just purchased a Sony RDR-GX7 DVD recorder. I recoded some of my HI8mm camcorder videos to have them in DVD. I recorded using a DVD-RW in "VR" mode in HQ setting with is 1 hour maximum storage on a DVD-RW. After I was done with my recording, I finalized it so I can watch it in othere stand alone players. I played very nicly in the Sony RDR_GX7, but my Pioneer DVD burner in my PC would not read it, and neigther my samsung and Toshiba standalone players. The onlyone that reads it is my NEC dvd burner in my brand new Dell Laptop (it plays, but it pauses for a fraction of a sec every other second, can not watch it with out getting a headache).

I wanted to play it on my other players, but I noticed that there is only one folder in the DVD-RW "DVD_RTAV" and inside the folder is the following files VR_mangr.BUP, VR_mangr.IFO, and VR_movie.VRO.
Can someone please help me. I don't have any .VOBs so I don't know what to do. I will apprecite any help.

I think I found the answer to my question. I believe that I have to record the DVD-RW in "video" mode, instead of the "VR" mode I was recording. I will probably try tomorow. If anyone thinks I'm mistakiung, please let me know. Thank you.

  3. Maybe try using a dvd+rw. That might work better. My pc dvd burners were never able to recognize dvd-rw recorded on this dvd recorder. So maybe give a +rw a shot.
