  1. I installed TMPGEnc on my system, encoded several video tapes, made DVD disks with MovieFactory and suddenly my disk is full. I moved to my wife's computer (bigger drive) and had the same problem. I have removed all *.avi and *.mpg files, run disk check, and Norton Disk Doctor with no help. A manual count of the files on my 80 GB disk shows about 40 GB used. MS Explorer shows over 70 GB used. I started with about 40 GB. Is there a secret that I don't know about video files on an NTFS system? Next step?

  2. turn off norton protection and make your trash, just trash, not the NOrton protected recycling bin.

    That should work

  3. What a nasty thing this Norton protection is. I turned it off and suddenly another 10 GB appears. Thanks for the tip. It will be turned off on all my computers in the future.

Run disk cleaner and tell it to remove all but the current restore points.

Right click on My Computer and go to the restore options and decrease the amount of space for restores down to 400Mb or less.

    treu, very true.

I've never had to use it, but leave it on anyway. I just keep it under control. There's no performance gain that I can see by disabling it.

Myabe there is on slower machines.
