hi all, i recently acquired a pioneer 107 dvd burner. today i went to buy dvd-rw to test it. i found that i had to format my dvds. is that usual? is it necessary to format them before use?

  2. When I first burned my only DVD-RW disc (ver 1.1) with Nero it performed a quick erase, took about a minute. (Pioneer DVR-106)

My DVD+RW's need no erasing (or you won't even notice it)

  4. If you mean formating like youre using a packet writing app then yes you have to format it with that program before writing
