SOHW 812S only burns @ 4X????

Hello all,

Has anyone been able to burn RICHOJPN01 4X +R media at 8X on a lite on 812S?Ihave an 811S that burns all 4X +R at 8X. my 812S will only burn the same media at 4X. i even tried 812S@832S with the same result.

Starting with the 51S series, LiteOn DVD burners no longer overspeed RICOHJPNR01 (which, as you are aware, is technically 4x media) to 8x...

...at least, not officially. Patch the speed for RICOHJPN/R01/02 up to 8x with the OmniPatcher and try again (unfortunately, the official LiteOn US0N and VS04 firmware flashers are encrypted and cannot be used with the OmniPatcher, but you can download an unencrypted stock US0N or VS04 flasher to get around this problem).

RICOHJPNR01 is the favorite media for the LiteOn drives for overspeeding to 8x. Look at the CD Freaks LiteOn forum for long enough, and you'll start to get sick of the number of posts saying "here's my 8x Ricoh R01 burn on my LiteOn, isn't it pretty?"...
