Hey folks, I am in the market for a new laptop.....with me being a truck driver it sucks being out on the road during the week and since the power house computer i built is at home, it does me no good to try to do any video work until the end of the week. My current laptop of 3 years isnt strong enough to handle any video work so I would like some help from everyone on what specs is good for a laptop for video work (brand too). I know I will have to save up money again for one as they are expensive, but at least I will be able to do my video work while im on the road until I get home on the weekends to transfer it to my main system. Thanks fellas!

Does your truck have alternating current or direct current. You may need to buy a DC-AC inverter so you can plug up any accessories.

Laptops can run off a cigerette ligher (u'll need an adapter)

I've heard the new Centrino processors are real powerhouses you might wanna go with one of those. Of course still get the biggest HDD you can get and make sure you get firewire

Just make sure you edit at the truckstop

I do have an inverter, a 1000 watt DC to AC inverter that i had hard wired to my truck, and more than enough to power a laptop, its enough to use a microwave too...lol. Centrino processors eh? I heard that there are a few new processors for the laptops, so I will look into those. And of course I go with Firewire; USB is a total waste. This would be great for on the road field work. Thanks!

  4. I also say Centrino, seems they have a great performance to mobility/power ratio.
