Nothing's idiot proof, but how about checking if you have an XviD codec installed?

  6. Mpeg2dec.dll is mpeg 2 decoding filter (for d2v files) for Avisynth. Beside the decoding ability it has other usefull functions built-in which functions are used by DVD2SVCD generated Avisynth script. MPEG2dec comes with DVD2SVCD package. That is why I advised you to re-instal.
This dll file can be found also separately. Make a search.
BTW open the Avisynth script and look if Mpeg2dec exist where the script points to.

    Ooo errr!

Looks to me like you need AVISynth! Install it to get your AC3 Source filters back! (& hence MPEG2DEC.DLL, I THINK).

HOWEVER, before you do this, solve ALL your codec problemettes & take a gander at this codec installation guide...

Nope - just run the installer.exe

    mine's called: AviSynth v2.54 RC2.exe

    just clickitty-click.

    BTW, It's a codec pack.

Be aware that codecs DO interefere with each other which is why I posted up that codec installation guide - it DOES make a difference!

    Good luck bud,

    unistall codecs
follow guide to install codecs (this i think includes AVISynth)
If it does not, install AVIsynth package.exe

see if DVD2SVCD then works - if u uninstalled, obviously reinstall it!

    Good luck!!

How typical of everything PC related to make something simple overly compicated.
How typical of anything Video related on a PC to make something simple bloody impossible.

*Yoga Position: Deep breath, count to 10*

Force the damn thing to work thus....

Search for Mpeg2Dec.dll on your PC. If it aint there grab it from the internet.

Copy it to the following locations on your PC:

    C:\Windows\System32\
    C:\Path\Whereever DVD2SVCD is
    C:\Path\Whereever AviSynth is.

If this does not work, let me know & I will remove it / resinstall it on my PC here to see what happens...

    Andy

P.S. I assume you've done a topic search in this forum for this problem...

Have you tried playing this AVI?
Have you scanned it for bad frames, using VirtualDub MP3 Freeze?

Try using The Film Machine, you can find here http://members.home.nl/thefilmmachine/ . Its a lot easier than AVI2DVD. There is also a very good guide on the site.

Another thought (hope i'm not boring u)

    Did u install DVD2SVCD 1.2.2 Build 1 Bundle from here? : http://www.dvd2dvd.org/

This bundle include AviSynth & will automatically install it for you. The next step you should take is to install the ASPI drivers for your particular operating system (agin, included in the bundle).

DVD2SVCD is a front end GUI for lots of other programs (such as TmpegEnc) that makes use of AviSynth's frameserving capabilites.

Frameserving is using one utility to decode or read a video file and then, after it has been decoded, sending it straight to any other video editing or encoding application.

For example, we could decode a DVD Vob file using Flask Mpeg and then use AVISynth to 'frameserve' it to another utility such as TMPGEnc and convert it to a SVCD or VCD. (sounds similar to what DVD2SVCD is doing ,doesn't it?)

Frameserving is the holy grail of the video converting scene because it allows us to pick and choose what encoders we want to use without the need to convert our video file into a huge uncompressed AVI format first!

AviSynth is controlled by small *.avs script text documents.

However, as you can see this is all rather complicated and hence some clever chap wrote DVD2SVCD to (easily?) tie all this together and provide a nice graphical front end (GUI).

If this proves too complicated (and I don't blame you if it is) I'd try an alternative like the one just mentioned....
