  1. I just recently bought a DVD-Writer. And, while it works fine, it seems like I am unable to write files to old data cds I created using DirectCD. I was advised to write the files from the cd to a new disc. I am able to read the info using my dvd-rom drive and copied files over to my hard drive. I still have a few data cds like this that I would like to continue to add info to. Can anyone help?

your new writer might not be compatible with the system used to write the files on the old cdr's. or maybe the old discs were finalized, so you wont be able to burn with them. are you using the same software as you used before?

  3. I closed the discs so they could be read using a regular dvd-rom, but would still be able to write to them. I use to just copy and paste the files in windows explorer and that was what I was trying to do. I had used Roxio EasyCD Creater 5's directcd function to format the discs. Since buying my dvd-writer, I've installed the software that came with it, NTI CD-Maker.

if you closed the discs, you will no longer be able to write to them

  5. I had a glitch like that with my cds written by my old burner(creative 8*4*32) and when I tried to add more to them using my new one(tdk velocd 32*10*40) it said that they were corrupted or damaged and could not have any further writing done. The data had to be copied and put on a new disc.

But like the person above said, if you CLOSE the disc, that CLOSES the ability to write anymore to the disc. You had a multisession disd and then closed it.
