    Hello all,
I'm new to this so would someone please help me. I'm trying to make VCDs from my DV camcorder. I've got all the capturing and burning tools. The question is which video and PAL VCD formats that produce the highest quality (as best as possible) when play on standalone DVD/VCD player? I've tried SVCD from MPEG2 but the quality isn't so great. Any suggestions?

  2. as I've guessed from a DV source best way is SVCD and from analog source is VCD, but the most important thing is bitrate, try to raise it to around 2.5mb

hmmm u can make very very good VCDs from DV source, but, for some unknown reason I have not come accross any method where u can get decent SVCD from DV source. Even raising bit rate to 3M/s I can still see blocks but only when there is fast movement.

I am repeating myself but I can get get excellant SVCD @ 1.5M/s from a DVD rip....but DV seems to need more bit rate. I have given up for now until someone somes up with some kind of DV filter that does not take detail away but maybe "cleans it up" so that it only needs a more reasonable bit rate.

Right now I am just waiting for DVD-R to become cheaper, then I can just throw more bit rate at it.

    BTW tryed TMPGE, CCE others.
