    ive just used dvd photoshow 2 to make a dvd of my hol snaps, but straight lines such as power lines and edges of buildings etc etc look as though theyre flashin, or fizzing for want of a better word, but when i burn the same slideshow to a VCD its fine, can anyone shed any light on this problem!!!!!

    yeah i had the same problem at one stage. i cannot remember how i fixed it. i think my stills were smaller than dvd resolution and thats why it happened but i an not positive sorry

    To be displayed on your TV screen, the images are interlaced just like video. There are a couple of ways to reduce the effect. The simplest is to apply a very small gaussian blur in phototshop. About .001 should reduce the flicker to acceptable levels

  4. yep its interlacing and you see it even on professional dvd's sometimes with thin lines..if any of you have Back to the Future on DVD you can see it when Marty goes back to 1955 and is in town. There is a big white sign that says something like "welcome to Hill Valley" with thin black lines above it and they are flickering as the camera pans.
    Now when I watch it on my dad's HDTV using progressive scan mode obviously they are smooooth

  5. I've noticed that if your images are snapped at 1k x 768 or higher and then placed in Memories or Photshow it will minimize that 'fizziness'. If you can shoot higher (1280 or 1600) even better.

    Give it a try and see if the quality gets any better or if it reduces the fuziness.
