  1. My captures from a composite source (Sky & European Satellite TV) are jittery. I'm capping in full PAL DVD resolution with a Xpert PVR 878 card. I've tried FLYDS and Win DVR. I can capture without dropping frames but the video looks 'jittery'. Specs :

    Athlon XP2000
    Windows 2000
    512DDR Ram

Is this a hardware issue i.e. cheap card?

what format are you capturing in? .avi? mpeg?

using .avi with the huffyuv codec should be problem free on your system, realtime mpeg capture is probably pushing the system a bit.

I've tried both. I think I'll get a DVD Recorder instead.

perhaps you're capturing interlaced material. what is your source? a film? live tv show?

  5. Direct from satellite with WINDVR3. The jitter or blur is noticeable on fast motion video e.g. sport.

  6. First of all I want to thank you for replying to my posts.

    Here are two examples :

    Win DVR3 doesn't capture interlaced.

Would a better card resolve the blur as shown in the first cap?

Yes, a better card would improve it a lot! not sure if you're familiar with interlacing, if not check out 100fps.com for an explanation. basically if it can't capture interlaced it takes half of your movement from the video and throws it out the window. any other card will be much better!
