When using a program like TMPGEnc to convert WMV files to DVD MPG2 what’s the maximum bitrate I should use when setting the maximum for a VBR file.
Example
The WMV file is encoded at 1000kps what’s (rule of thumb) the maximum rate I should use for DVD conversion. You could go upto about 8500kps and still have room for the audio but I would think over a curtain rate you would just be wasting disc space.
After converting the files I intend to use TMPG DVD Author to make DVD with a simple menu to group the clips.
Thanks for any help.

This reminds me of the old saying"crap in,crap out".
I'm not saying WMV is crap but I would set the resolution and bitrate close to the original because you can't make a compressed file look better by upping the bitrate or resolution.
