    I hope this has not already been asked a million times but does anyone know for sure if there will be or already is a firmware update for the DVR-107 to burn Dual Layer?

    I discussed this with a media vendor at the computer show last weekend. He's usually quite knowledgeable and said he'd heard a firmware upgrade would be released in order to compete with Sony's new drive, and that Sony was "flooding" the market with their drives to get them out before their competitors offered their upgrades.

    However, nothing's for sure until it happens. Even if it doesn't, I'm not too eager to switch just yet. Once the price of DL blanks comes down to reasonble levels I'll look into it. I can get perfectly good results now with single layer disks....
