  1. Hello

I have a Pioneer DV-535 standalone player, and my DVD writer is LG-4040B.
For some time now, my DVD player isn't playing lots of copies I made several months ago. The strange thing is that these discs WERE playable in the standalone player, and now they dont play anymore. Some get rejected by the player, others do play but freeze after short play time, while others play normally. I'm sure that, at a certain time, they all played perfectly.

All the discs I recorded are Panasonic media, but I discoverd recently they are in fact Yi Jhan and Interaxia AG media codes.

All discs are playable in the LG4040B drive.
50% of the discs are not playable at all on the DV-535 player
10% are playable, but they freeze after a short period.
    30% are still playable
All discs WERE playable in the Pioneer drive at a certain point (I know, I tested them)

So, what could have happened to the discs (or the player) ??? Is it possible that those media somehow damaged my player? My player still plays perfectly original retail DVDs and some LG DVD-R copies.

Anyone knows if playing bad media on the standalone could damage the player and why is that?

  2. Sounds like bad media to me. Poor quality dye used on the discs that has degraded over time.

I had the same thing happen with some zero defex discs.
