having used DVD2AVI to create project files, if i encode the movie to standard VCD Pal and select settings > advanced > source range and encode half the movie for the firsat disk, and then repeat afterwards for the second disk it writes fine using Nero 5.5.
If however I encopde the whole movie in one go and then use Tmpgenc's merge and cut facility to shop the movie into 2, when I then try to write using Nero it claimd that the movie is not VCD compliant.
Any ideas ??

use vcdcutter the tmpeg split file has a bug with files larger than 1gb
you might try the newest version of tmpeg i think it`s 12h
that might also do the trick -
When cutting are you selecting the proper format in the drop down menu or are you just using the default? The default will give you errors in Nero.

I echo gambit32's advice. Read http://www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=48742&forum=1 for a past discussion on this subject.
