Due to macrovision and other copy protection, many vhs tapes cannot be copied straight to a DVD recorder. This should not apply to home made tapes though. Sounds like your recorder is goofed up.

  4. You need to purchase the device available from http://www.facetvideo.com/xcart/customer/home.php. The device will assist you in converting the movies to DVD. I had the same problem that you had, and the device fixed it for me.

  8. I hope that it helps. Most DVD recorders will not record material that is protected by Macrovision. I have never had any problems with the device.

    Good luck...
