weird vcr problem

ok here goes

this just started the other day

the input on the front of my super vhs jvc vcr - when i select to use the front jacks - the picture comes in (kind of dark) and then it slowly disappears within 10 seconds

any idea why it does this? i went out and bought new cables and its not any better.

Hmmmm. Does it do the same thing if you plug it into the back of the VCR?

nope works fine in the back

what i have done is this:
satellite direct to tv (since i have pvr yay!)
and then dvd to vcr and vcr to tv via coax

not the best setup but i guess it will have to work
