  1. Hi there, I am thinking about getting a new DVD player, and I really have no idea what to look for, when I bought my first dvd player, I just got one that could read DVDs, and VCDs. Now that I'm doing video editing and making VCDs,
I want to get a dvd that can play CD-r/rw, mp3s, (X)SVCDs,(X)VCDs,and DVD-Rs. But when I look at the specs of a dvd player that are advertised I have no idea what they mean, can someone please help me clear some things up?

K, I'm currently looking at an ad from a store named "Visions", and they talk about dvd players that have:
10-bit/27MHz Video DAC with Viter-Bi Error Correction? what's all that mean!!!......I'm guessing that the higher the number the better.....but what's DAC mean? what's Viter-Bi Error Correction? does it make those green blocks or pixalation go away?
    Also, what's a D/A converter? is a 24-bit/96kHz D/A converter any good?
what's the difference between twin-wave laser and single-wave laser? and is a twin-wave laser the same as a dual laser dvd player? Now other things I see in the specs of some dvd players is "500 lines of resolution" is that good? what should I look for? and if they say, 500 lines of "horizontal resolution" is there a difference? and what's the difference between horizontal and vertical resolution?

Well..........those are pretty much most of my questions, I hope someone here has the patience and wisdom to answer my questions,

    Thanks in advance!
