its been getting a lot of good feedback from newegg customers. will pioneer make a dual-layered burner soon? i know sony has one out now as well. when can we expect dvd-9 recordable media to be as cheap as the dvd+/-r media now?

the thing with newegg (and others too) is lots of the "customer" feedback are fake there, dont trust them too much.

  3. that does not mean is a bad burner.....
personally I trust Nec, not Sony, cheaper and better.....of course I own one...
don't think that pioneer wil release a dual burner soon, because they are the - side.....and looks like they have problems with that....

  4. I've got the NEC ND-2500A writer which is the 8× single layer model and it is an excellent writer.. As far as dual layer is concerned, there haven't been enough tests yet to determine compatibility between specific media and specific dual layer writers yet, but from what little I've been able to read about the NEC ND-2510A DL writer supports that it's a very good writer, espcially for the $95 that Newegg is charging.

To answer your other question about the cost of DL media, who knows? I'm sure it will be relatively expensive at first, but as production and demand builds the price will decrease accordingly as it has with cdr and dvd± discs. I'm hoping the higher capacity Blu-Ray and HD-DVD writers looming on the horizon will maybe help to drive the price down quicker rather than later.

  5. What is dual layer? Is it one layer is +r & the other one is -r ?

Double layer media from verbatim won't be out until July, be in short supply & be $$$.
