I'll help if I can. You need someone to order it, then ship it to you, right Curryman?

Edit: They're going for about $250 USD here (£140 GBP).

don't understand why this thread was moved, it's not a question about video capturing, it's about buying hardware as cheap as possible.
Not that i'm bothered mind you, just don't understand

if the Cmaster marks it as a family gift with value of $0 then they shouldn't care at all.

Customs would shaft you I'm afraid.
Trouble is, the source has to declare what it is and the value, and therefore the customs would see (from the fornt of the pack) what it is and calculate VAT etc at the rate they make up at the ******* time.
    Bastards.
Good luck with your search my friend.

Also, if I bought over here atleast it wouldn't be too much trouble if it went up the creek.
ok, what about this: I have a family member who is going to Florida in the not to distant future.
Could he buy it for me and bring it back with him?,

Yup, but hopefully he'll have a camcorder with him and, if stopped, could argue it's an accesasory.
Suggest he doesn't bring it back boxed either.

  12. curryman -have you thought about the ADVC55 instead? - about £100 cheaper! -

Same chipset (I think), so same quality - separate box - powered from the firewire - macrovision defeat -

    downside - no analogue out.

If you have a dual out video card (I use a Matrox G550), then no problem- but if you don't, and really need analogue out, then it's back to the 100.

    just an idea!

I got mine off ebay for $200.00 Buy It Now. This is a LOT better than the retail price of $300. It was used, however. You have to KEEP LOOKING. About three to four times a day I looked because if a good deal comes along it is usually bought within the hour. Usually $200 ones don't come along very often. Also, you may want to check completed items to see if any came along that you missed.

The best price I've ever seen for one on ebay was $160 Buy It Now!!!!!!! I was out of the house when it was put one, but it was gone in less than a half hour. ONE SIXTY!!! Too bad I didn't get it, that would have been awesome. That guy was soooo lucky!
