  1. I have a 100Hz widescreen Philips TV and I was wondering if its display is non interlaced, ie is that what the 100Hz means?

If so, that will mean that it is best paired up with a progressive scan DVD player, wont it?

If not, will there be any point in getting a progressive scan DVD player?

No. 100Hz means the screen is refreshed to a point where flickering
can't be seen and scenes with movement (ie. sport) are clearer.

    Nope

Sure, if you plan to buy a new progressive DLP, LCD, Plasma or LS HDTV
    in the near future.

I have seen a few 100hz TV's that are switchable between interlaced and progressive operation, it's worth looking through all of the menus/manual.

What is the model number of the TV sos i can google it?

  6. The manual has no mention of the model number, so I will look behind the TV tomorrow when I get up.

It is a Philips Machline 68cm widescreen bought in Australia.

It is 100Hz with some "Digital Scan" feature.

It is about a year old.

  7. Its the Philips 32 PW 8806 / 79R. I think the key model number is "8806".

Most of what google returns are non-english sites.

    Here is an English site.

Still worth buying a prog scan dvd player, you'll buy a plasma/lcd/prog tv at some stage 8)
