  3. I have the Samsung dvd-v1000, not a bad unit at all. Loves cheap cdrs, can play cd-rw for vcds, not mp3s though - yes it can play mp3s. I just got a pioneer 434 for my second tv, and I have to be honest, the picture does look better on it than the samsung.

What he is saying is that it won't play MP3 cdrw's.

  6. So is this the DVD/VCR combo to get?

or is there something else that's better?

  7. I would LOVE to know how you got it to play burned SVCD's. I've burned a million (okay, maybe 50) various different ways and they all behave erratically. Generally, they WON'T auto play the MENU unless I hit PLAY. Then I can't select the chapters or do much of anything else. The few VCD's I've burned, on the other hand, seem to work as planned but I've got a bug up my ass to only make SVCD's.

...then migrate to motion menu's if I can ever figure this step out!

However, if I load the SVCD and DON'T press PLAY to load the MENU, then hit the chapter number, it fires off and plays that chapter and the rest of them sequentially as it should...

...some of the time, at least.

Otherwise, I'm happy with this player, although to me it seems a bit SLOW at loading various different media (DVD, CD, VCD, or MP3). However, I base that on absolutely no experience with any other players, it just seems to take a long time to me.

    Thanks!

    Justin
