Star Wars: The Phantom Menace problem ...

Hi there,

I'm trying to add a subtitle to the Star Wars: The Phantom Menace DVD. Therefore i have to demux it, replace the sub and them mux it back again (there is a guide on the whole process on this site).

The movie duration is exactly 2h 10' 43". However, if i demux it to elementary files, i get a .m2v file of 2h 30' 07". I can manage to get the audio part of the correct duration, but you can imagine that if i try to mux them back i get inconsitencies (because the different duration of the audio and video part).

I noticed also that the dvd has some sort of multi-angle option. Could this be the reason?

Did anyone manage to demux od convert this dvd correctly? Do you have any suggestion?

what program are you using to demux them? it seems that this might be your problem.

also, just curious why are you adding subtitles to the dvd? isnt there subtitles already on it?

To answer your questions:

1. I use Vobedit to demux all streams.
2. I want to add subs cause the ones i need are not already on the disc.

Do you have any suggestions?

If I remember correctly, I think that "The Phantom Menace" is multi-angle. This could be the cause of your problems. You could probably just rip the one angle, then demux from that, and it should be ok, I think, never tried it.

OK, just got an idea. Do you want to keep you menu? If not, here's an idea, use DVDShrink in Reauthor mode, reauthor with just the main movie with the appropiate angle. Then just demux from the output.

I believe that DVDDecryptor could also do this. What I mean is just rip only one angle.

As a matter of fact, i tried already both methods, but with no success unfortunately ...

And yes, it's multiangle as reported by DVDShrink and standalone player, but no multiangle as reported by IFOEdit.

I need something else to try, something i din't try yet ...

Waiting for someone who owns this and tried before or could try simulating for me. Thanx a lot.
