  1. I have an Apex and a Sony DVD player(new, just got and yes it plays everything CD & DVD R/RW - and + also MP3s) and in the past I could just take the ts_audio and ts_video folders from the DVD source and burn them on to a DVD and play it on my Apex just fine. But that same DVD I just created will not play on my Sony. My qestion is why? Is there something special I need to do to have it play on both.

What type of media is it? Let's say that you used a DVD+R disc, it could be that the Sony player doesn't handle that type of disc. Try searching for the model number in the "DVD Players" section on the left side of this page or check your manual.

  4. What's the Media ID code? In my experiences, Sony DVD players are somewhat picky about +R discs.

  6. I am creating DVD-RW
I know its not a media problem cause I can take the next in the stack or even the same blank and create a VCD or a SVCD and it plays on the Sony. It even plays MP3s burned on to it.

and to answer tompika... ts-video folder is the folder that has all the .VOB files and such.

  7. Don't mind him, he's just having a quick laugh.

The folders should be named, AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.
They should be in CAPITAL LETTERING.
And the TS part, comes last.

Don't know if that will fi your problem though.
    Blah, blah, blah

Well I checked and I have the names correct AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.

  9. Are you burning as ISO DVDs? Many DVD players do not recognize ISO format. I know cause I did that just two nights ago. Dragged and dropped the VIDEO_TS AUDIO_TS folders and found it would not play in my JVC, but would in my Norcent.

  10. Thanks Bountyhunter, that is probably the case cause I am trying to drag and drop to burn an ISO DVD that plays fine in the Apex but not in my Sony. Funny how all the smaller companies DVD players play anything you give it but the Major companies are picky.

Do you have any idea how to author a DVD when you only have the VIDEO_TS folder and nothing else?

  11. What I do is use Nero Burning Rom. Choose DVD-Video from the wizard. This will create a VIDEO_TS and an AUDIO_TS folder for you. Drag the VOBs from the HD's VIDEO_TS to the one in the Nero window and then burn. There are probably other tools that'll work as well, but my experiences are limited to Nero.

If you have VIDEO_TS (containing VOBs, IFOs and BUPs), the authoring stage is already done. Now you simply:
    1) Create an AUDIO_TS folder "right beside" the VIDEO_TS folder. (These should be the only two folders in sight)
    2) Create DVD image of AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS using imgtools classic
    3) Burn image with DVDDecrypter
