Hi, I have a pioneer CLD-D760 LD player, and a canopus ADVC-50. I also have some american LDs, and some jap LDs.
I'm not sure whether my CLD-D760 is a US or Jap model, but I notice that whenever i set my canopus to capture at 0 IRE, the blacks are gray... it doesn't matter whether I'm playing Jap LDs or american LDs, all the blacks are gray.... hence can I conclude that my player is a US model?
Well my question is this: Assuming that my player is a US model, and I'm playing a Jap LD, should i be setting my canopus to capture at 0 IRE or 7.5 IRE? If I were to capture at 7.5 IRE, will I be losing colour information within the 0 IRE to 7.5 IRE range? Or will the player convert 0 IRE info (on the jap LD) to 7.5 IRE for output, hence getting the full range?
Thanks.
