Damn it all to hell. The 50-disc spindle that I ordered last week finally arrived. First, they turn out to be printables. I am not spending another couple of hundred dollars to get a printer that can give me a decent-looking disc. Then I burn one just to see if they are worth using in spite of this. Big mistake. Everything played fine for about 65 minutes and then *bang*, major breakup of the picture. Not in the usual sense of tracking errors where the film stops entirely, but with massive MPEG artefacts that were definitely not in the disc image.

To those outside Australia, I say never come here. Americans in particular enjoy a level of competition on products like this that would be criminal in my eyes to throw away.

Does anyone already stuck here know a place I can rely on?

If you are in Melbourne there is a guy at Carribean Gardens that sells DVD-r for $1 each (not princo) and I've had no coasters with them. His email address is steve@asio.com.au He sells other brands, plus cases at 25c each.

I think I might give him a go anyway (not in Melbourne anymore). What's the media ID code of what he is selling (or the brand if you don't know the code)?

Well, I still haven't got a reply to the email I sent.

Apart from the discs themselves looking terrible, and Princo being a stupid name for anything, I have never been able to get Princo discs to work as they should. Whether they be CD-Rs or DVD-Rs, Princos have always given me more headaches than I consider them to be worth.

I was trying to find a place to buy TDKs online because they cost $70 for 25 locally. So far, my attempts to find something better have been met with laughing in my face. I should have figured, honestly...

Don't know what ying yang is. They are doubles and have the plastic slips, much the same as the ones the rental companies use.

It depends on the brand. Strathfield car radio, Dandenong were selling DVD-r for 89 cents (not Princo0 last week.

That's interesting. Possibly your burner or DVD player has compatibility issues with Princo ?

I only mentioned it because I have never had any problems with princos from Glenferrie Computer Services or Speedy Importers.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I've had problems with three different burners using Princo CD-R and DVD-R media, not to mention that no Princo DVD-R I've ever burned plays on any of the Toshiba DVD players I have access to. Hardly a ringing endorsement.

I'm really upset that I let myself be talked into leaving Melbourne. It was the worst mistake I ever made.
