Tmpgenc Plus over 100%

i'm converting a divx.avi file to mpg using tmpgenc.. i'm using a wav file for audio and the divx for video.. when i get to the last step in tmpgenc where you can adjust the size of the recording, it is 4.2 gig and at 100%... is there any advantage to increasing the mpg to 4.7 and 125%... also once i get the single file mpg, can i use nero to burn it to dvd?

No, the fact is the true amount you can record to a blank DVD is 4.3gb not 4.7 as stated on the package. This is due to the way the manufacturer is interpeting the size of the disc.

No you can not burn it directly to a dvd. You'll have to "author" it first to make the files dvd compliant. You can get a free trial TMPGEnc's DVD Author, which is an excellent authoring program listed under the Tools section on the left hand side of the first page here.

yes, basicly, authoring has nothing to do with the avi file though.

well after you convert to mpg, the avi is worthless (i assume)....

A word of advice, never delete your source files until you are absolutely certain your DVD is error free.

mmm alright sounds good... quick question tho :P say a group decides to sub their files right. is it possible to remove the subs ? theres no sub file its sorta embedded in the video like those anime subs, but not like the HK vcds. You know what I mean.. ?

Well, if you're talking about an OGM all you have to do is disable the sub stream in Virtualdubmod and save as a new AVI or OGM. If you're talking about an AVI or MPG that has no sub file you're pretty much S.O.L.

I am trying to convert an 7 gb AVI file to create the Mpeg 2 file, using TMPG ENC. I select constant bitrate and the Bitrate defaults to 3000 and will not allow me to reduce it lower, as the file size is 167%. I subsequently lose the audio and picture. What do I do next / or what am I doing wrong in encoding this file.
