    hi...

    My laptop cant pickup my dvd?..Do i need a dvd head cleaner? (like vcr need headcleaners to clean video head)...

    my sony laptop (8 speed dvd rom)..cat pick up..data that i recorded at 1 speed.....It spins & spins ..and strugles spinning....and makes a funny sound...and then stops...

    Do u think that it may need a dvd headcleaner?.....(whats dfference bewteen cd head cleaner & a dvd head cleaner).

    The blank dvd's i currently use are the RED DATAWRITE V2 .
    I write 4.37 gigs of wmv movies on UDF 1.02 format at 1 speed on the DVD./using nero 6. :P

    Sounds like your DVD-ROM might not recognize the disc media. My Matshita laptop DVD-ROM can't read DVD+Rs or DVDRWs, only DVD-Rs. You might want to try bitsetting.

    Unless you are a smoker or someone in your home smokes I would put my money on media.
    The laser in your DVD is fragile and not really ment to be cleaned.

    If you feel that you absolutly must fiddle with it - use a soft Q-tip moistened with isopropyl alcoohol and gently clean only the lens.

    I agree with 888888. In particular if you burned to DVD+R. My first DVD burner only wrote to DVD+R/RW format. I had to upgrade the bios versions for my DVD players in three systems, before each of them could read DVDs burned using the DVD+R format.
