  1. Hi guys... what a cool message board, just wondering if anyone could help me with a prob... I have recently purchased an xms750 dvd, I have tried to optically connect it to my Pioneer vsx-d409 amp, once physically connected I get no, or distorted play through my speakers.... I thought it was the amp, took it back and had it tested... nothing wrong, got another optic cable incase something was wrong there... no difference... I have tried every conceiveable combo on the dvd player and the amp and still nothing.... so, now you are all thinking it must be the dvd player, well, I thought so too... until, I optically hooked my MD upto the dvd to copy a cd... it worked fine... hmmm???? I have no idea what it could be... the dvd works fine through the analogue connections... but not through the digital co-axial socket or optical connections... anyway, any info would be greatly appreciated.... thanx... C

I have the XMS-750 as well... i must admit i have not tried the optical out as yet but i have found out that you have to enable it in the setup menu of the DVD player for this option to work... by default it is set to standard AV not optical out.... if not i would be looking at setup features of AMP ......... it could also be a compatabiliy issue... dont know ????
