  3. you are not going to keep the menus if you use Shrink to split dvd over 2 discs.

  4. I use dvdshrink (found at www.dvdshrink.org) to backup a lot of DVDs, and at first I decided to do just the movie, like you, to keep as much quality as possible. I then tried backing up the whole DVD, and having dvdshrink "shrink" it to fit..I was amazed at the quality of the video. I'm VERY picky and have a 61" TV and I can't tell at all that it's been compressed. Something else you can do to get even more quality is highlight the main movie, choose Custom Ratio in the video box, and slide the compression slider until the movie is at it's max while still fitting on the DVD. This will compress the extra features that you probably won't watch as much as the movie.

If you want to get your hands dirty for free, IFOEdit can do the job for you.

What is it with people that want main movie and menu ?

You put the DVD in, it fires up the menu, you then can only click on Play Movie or use Scene Selection because no other buttons work

    OR

You put the DVD in and the movie starts playing straight away. Scene Selection is clicking the Next button

I know which one I'd choose.
    If in doubt, Google it.
