The CD/DVD tray is not loading at all now, at least not like it was for the first couple of dozen DVD's I did.
I now find that unless I push it so far in so as to actually lift the rollers, it won't load in when the cartridges have done their merry dance.
When I first got it I only had to set it just a fraction after the arrows and now, as I say, I have to push it right in otherwise, when the cartridges do their thing and spit the tray out slightly (they all do this, right?) it wo't load.

    EDIT:
I've done three more since posting the above and now have to gently ease the tray forward when the rollers start, otherwise it won't take the tray at all

The tray on mine on has been pushed all the way out on numerous occasions and i've had to cancel the print and start again. Usually though it comes out a fraction and then the printer does it's stuff. This may be a coincidence but I recently re-installed XP and so of course had to re-install the printer and I haven't had the problem since. Good luck with it.

Funny you should bring this up. I just asked for a replacement R200. About 2 weeks back mine was doing the same thing. It also (tray) would slide all the way in but go in too far, then it wouldnt slide out.
So, sometimes it wont slide in at all, sometimes it slides in and goes way too far in and sometimes it works right.

I called Epson and they are sending another. I think this is gonna be a problem for them.

check the clear plastic at the front of the tray. make sure it's not bent. i had the same exact problem as you and it turned out that the clear plastic at the front of the tray was very slightly bent upwards. so i just bent it downwards and all was well again. hope that helps.

Thanks for the input philly, but thats a no go on the plastic. Sometimes the tray wont go in at all and other times it goes wayyyyyyyy in and goes so far in that the tray guide itself attempts to flip up before the tray starts to come back out again.

Just done the first of the day, printed fine, bastard thing
I'll see how it goes but after two weeks of use it shouldn't be showing these kinds of problems.
Shame, I only bought it for the DVD printing, I use my HP 970cxi for everything else.

  7. jaxxboss,

try printing a couple of A4 pages. Turn off printer. Reset computer.
Power on printer. Power on computer. Print another 2 A4 pages.
Pull down DVD tray and slide plastic template in as normal. Try
printing now. Make sure clear plastic fingers are not bent and that
you are aligned exactly with the white arrows as usual.

  9. I found the same problem on my fourth DVD, it loaded fine, then the sucker went all the way to the back and didn't come out. I had to pull the tray out.

Seems it doesn't like to be a DVD/CD printer only
I figured out similar thing offline did.

I lifted the CD/DVD flap back into place. Closed the lid.
Turned off the printer. Turned it back on. Ran a peice of paper through manually. Then it printed a DVD just fine.

That was the only time I had to do it. But then again, I've only printer about 15 DVD/CDs so far.

  10. Same thing here .. they promised a replacement tray weeks ago .. nothing yet. They'll be getting another call. As it is, I have to monitor it each time before it starts its routine and make sure to slightly nudge the damn tray forward slightly ..

    Thanks stilts.
How run a piece through manually, I guess a simple single-page print will be as good, right?
Bloody thing, all I want it for is direct DVD/CD printing
I don't mind nudging it slightly, but after two weeks of light use it kinda sticks in my throat, you know?

  12. Hi all
If you go back and read the instruction sheet it shows how to run a sheet of paper through manually(mainternance button) to clean rollers prior to printing a cd/dvd. Fingers crossed mine is still going srong

LOL, now we need to know "how to run paper thru.

Yeah, I have to give mine a lil push also sometimes. And sometimes it goes too far in, but sometimes it makes it back out and other times it goes so far in that the flap flips up.

Anyway, Im getting a new one , probably on Wednesday.
The bottom of my tray looks like the souls of a shoe that has been well worn. LOL, I must have printed about 300 discs so far.

Followed the above advice, worked first time but like Ikeep saying, shouldn't be like this after a fortnight.
If I get a replacment fine, if I get a replacement tray, so be it, I'll keep it as spare and nudge when I need to

  15. Seems like they have taken a backwards step with the disk loading from the 900's then.
I take it that the 200 & 300 dont have a lever that you have raise while you insert the tray then lower once its in place.

On the R200, you have raise the cover (like to replace the ink) and then you have to lower a tray down that locks into place by the rollors. Then insert the disc adapter. Lining up 2 arrows.....Pain in the arse if you ask me, but it seems to work most of the time. I bet this was an after thought (DVD/CD printing) for these models. I forsee these going out of production and replaced by a model that's better designed for DVD/CD printing....

I recieved my replacement R200 printer yesterday (Thursday). Will first attempt to just use the newer tray and see if that is the problem. If it is then I'll probably buy a separate tray and use my older one for experimenting on.

Oh yea, I'm going to replace my 3/4 full cartridges with the empty ones before I send the other printer back. Think epson will get mad or bitch about it? They are almost all empty except for maybe 1 or 2 .

  18. I bought this printer almost exclusively for the CD/DVD printing feature. This printer is horrible! I would not reccommend this to anyone!

I've printed a batch of 30 CD/DVD's and they worked fine. So, the record label I co-own bought 100 CD's ready to print up a batch for another band. I got through 10 without any problems, but the next one wouldn't load right. I managed to print about 25 out of 100 and now I've tried like 20 times to load in the tray with no luck. I've rebooted, cleaned the print heads, aligned the print heads, tried fooling with the little plastic on the front of the tray. Nothing works!
