Any time you want to experiment, use a DVD+/- RW. In other words, try it yourself, with basically no "risk" involved.

  5. You can easily make backup copies of any series type of dvd using DVDShrink (free). Simply choose reauthor, drag the titles into the new window, then get rid of foreign languages and unwanted soundtracks (deselect them in compression settings window). Dolby Digital 5.1 will play in all DVD players and is the recommended soundtrack, if it is present. Any DVD can be copied, I mean backed up, with this software (you also need software to burn with such as Nero or DVD Decrypter). Read the guides on this site if you need more info.

Yes you can backup the Chappelle show season 1....I did.

I do not suggest you use DVDshrink though. The Video is very big, and only has one audio track. So if you do not want to re-author it, I suggest Instant Copy 7 (or 8 but I'm not suggesting 8). DVDshrink will do it but the compression is in the 50's and the quality is not as sharp as IC7 but that's up to you.

The skit where he's the Black Klan member almost put me in the hospital, I laughed so hard.

  10. Problem I am having is this:

In vob 3 , i get an I/o error with dvd decrypter
In vob 3 , i get a program error with nero recode
after using clad, and attempting to use anything to encode it, same file is referenced.

Basically, I just can't backup this damn first disk of the 2 dvd set. No problems with the second, or anything else I back up.

    Any ideas?

You could try ripping with Smartripper instead. If you get another I/O error something's up with the drive or the disc.

Oh really that cannot be done, I say this because i have tried many different transcoders to achieve high quality, with no success. The first disk has 8 shows and the second disk has 4 shows. if you saying you put all first disk 8 shows on a dvd-r by transcoding the season, then you probably need glasses. because i reauthored in a manner where i will have 6 shows per disk, and yet results were good but not PERFECT. i tried 6 shows on DVD Shrink and i was disgusted by the quality on some shows like show number 1 where he plays a black white supremasist, show 2 where he plays a crack head, well basicly everything. Nero Recode looked very good when using Advanced Analasis, DVD2ONE looked pretty good, well way better than DVD Shrink, but a little less than Recode. DVD X Copy Platinum, looked perfect on the first 3 shows, flawless, but then when it got to the fourth show pixels anywhere where there was movement all the way to show 6. so the best thing here is NERO Recode, but i wouldn't waste 2 DVD-Rs with that kind of quality, so it would be better if you just Encode Each Show into Full D1, or CVD.

  16. Those files are pretty big. No matter how you do it, you will have a high degree of pixalization..... You could always try using DVDFAB and split it in two. Use the "Season Disk" option.

    download freeware version:

Demux the VOBs, open video stream in VDub, save as AVI using PicVideo or Huffy codec, resize to half D1 resolution and re-encode then re-author.

That is way too long a process, just use DVD2SVCD with CCE, and the DVD2SVCD Plug IN D2SRoba.exe

Yes they can, RTFG on the left - and you must own the actual DVD... as the program you use to "copy" will ask you for your store reciept number to ensure you actually "own" the DVD you wish to make a "backup" of....

"Sir...am not and have not been in anyway shape or form involved in any n*****rdom."

Chappelle is halarious, he owns a house in a small town close to where I live. I've ran into him and his wife a few times walking down the street and roller blading on the bike path...nice guy, if you didn't know who he was and met him, you'd never know he was famous or rich.

I can't wait until his next comedy special, a month or so ago the Klan held a small rally or something in this littletown, and while I wasn't there a friend of mine said she saw Dave and his wife there checking it out.
