  1. I have some movies I downloaded and they are in the PAL format. My DVD player specs say it will only play discs coded for region 1. Can this cause problems during playback? Should I encode the VCD for ntsc or pal? Is the region code possibly stored in the avi file I downloaded? Still learning about all of this. Any advice is appreciated

  2. Hmmm, I don't believe VCDs (or AVIs) have a region code - the region code refers to DVDs only. The question would be whether your DVD player supports PAL playback and will it play PAL on a NTSC tv. My Apex will play either disk on either tv. What player do you have?

  3. My stand alone player is a GE model GE1105P. I have had it since Xmas of '99. I went to GEs' website to find some specs but they say they sold their product line off to a Thomson Electronics who still manufacture some models under the GE name. The owners manual does say it plays VCDs', but doesn't say anything about NTSC or PAL.
