  1. Please be gentle with me im a beginner when it comes to burning cd's dvd's etc etc.
Have downloaded a mpeg (a episode of angel actually) and tried to burn it (using nero ultra) onto a cd-r.

Now i put the cd into my dvd player and it correctly came up saying vcd etc etc and it started playing but all i get is a black screen with a black box in the middle (which is tiny) which i assume is the mpeg trying to play and it says created by nero at the bottom.

Am i not correctly burning the mpeg??

    Please help!!

Hi, you may or may not be talking about WAREZ.
Please read the rules and AUP before posting if you have
not already done so. They can be viewed by clicking

    Thanks,

First up, we don't support warez on this site, and you agreed to not talk about them or ask for them when you read the AUP.

Second up, come back to us with information from gspot, and maybe someone can help.

Sure you did. Warez includes illegally obtained movies/TV episodes also, not just illegal software.

Try pressing play on the remote. Perhaps Nero created a menu for your VCD.

RTFM Nero has a help button for it's VCD burning and authoring. Check the options (in Nero) to see if it's creating a menu or not.

make sure you're burning the right format, is the file Mpeg-1 or Mpeg2, in which case you need to make an svcd. also check the list on this site to make sure your dvd player can play vcds.

Beyonder, it IS warez if you don't own the rights to the programme. unless you do (in which case you wouldn't be downloading copies of it) you're breaking the rules - plain and simple.

  8. so what you are saying is that if you subscribe to a site that allows you to download movies etc etc for a price for example wannadoos music club then that is breaking the law too?!!!

Anyway to the last guy have tried to burn it to svcd but nero comes up with an error saying

    mpeg-1 instead of mpeg-2
    invalid video stream 29.97 frames/second
    352 x 240 pixels

i would guess if you read your service contract closely you will find what you're trying to do is not allowed.

and just because you pay for something (kazaa gold, for instance) does not mean you're within the law when you download copyrighted material.

i already asked you to provide info from gspot.

  12. Once again I am not or have even downloaded anything which is warez!

Cant believe everyone is having a go at me, usually i'm the one who's telling people to pay for stuff instead of stealing them on the net!!

    Oh well.

Some people think that if you say the same thing over and over again then it's true.

skip the warez talk. i often download tv-shows/episodes I miss from friends that has recorded it for me. it is a gray area of course. but it will be allowed to discuss. if you want to continue discuss warez rules do it in our feedback forum.

Looks like a perfectly OK NTSC VCD. Author with VCDEasy. Create bin/cue (with VCDEasy) and burn (with VCDEasy or Nero).

  23. So create the bin/cue with vcd easy (will isobuster do?) and then burn with nero?
Do i burn this as a vcd or dvd or svcd???

Hey Mats, if I had that video I'd just open NERO choose VCD and burn. Why author? Maybe I'm missing something.

Yes. Just uncheck the "Burn" checkbox. VCDEasy can burn it too, if your system and ASPI layer is set up correctly, but that might be a daunting task.
    (will isobuster do?)
Huh? isobuster is used to read ISOs, not to author VCD, which is what VCDEasy does.
then burn with nero? Do i burn this as a vcd or dvd or svcd???
Neither. You select "Write Image" or "Open..." from the file menu. That's the beauty - it lets Nero do what it's good at - writing stuff to disc (and nothing else).

    /Mats
