Hello,
I beleive I am getting reasonable decent at making basic home video DVD compilations, and would now like to add a second, optional audio 'commentary track'.
By way of explanation, my father just gave me a DVD that incorporated a number of home movies made by my Grandfather from 1938-on. Unfortunately, I didn't know who half the people were, and realized that an accompanying commentary track by my dad would be really useful. Now of course, since I make all my home DVDs to music tracks, 66 years from now when my grandchildren are looking at them, it would be nice for them to have some commentary from me about the people, places, things, etc.
OK, long explanation finished, I would very much appreciate some advice regarding how I can do this. I really want to be able to shut the commentary off most of the time, but have it there as an option. I primarily use Pinnacle Studio 8 (although I have Premiere 6.5 and am starting to learn how to use it), and TMPGEnc DVD encoder to make my home videos. I also have Nero 6.0, and of less use for this pupose, DVD Decoder and DVD shrink. I would be willing to acquire other software if neccessary.
Thanks

You need a dvd authoríng tool with several audio track supports, like ifoedit (and dvd-lab if you want menus).

Pinnacle Studio version 9 does not support multiple audio tracks

What i do i mux the m2v and what ever audio tracks i want using IFOedit, then use DVD-Lab to combine the the VOBs into one single VOB.....then I load the VOB into dvd-lab. After I compile with DVD-Lab, I use it's own IFO editor to change the IFO file to reflect however many audio tracks I have.....worked like a charm
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." -

Simple......when you go to mux the files together in IFOedit, the first audio track you select will be the primary audio track
"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
