From your experiences. I might get either from RIMA.com.

  2. Me personally, I like the -R best...... TY = Over 50 backups and none have yet failed (knock on wood)

I have Memorex combo drive and even the "complimentary" +R that came with it was a coaster

Not to say other +R media wouldn't work, but Sony +R also failed too..... I just said screw it. My burner likes the high octane -R Japanese stuff.

With your Opto, I believe it doesn't support bit setting, so DVD-R would be a better way to go.

If you don't care/need bit setting, then I'd go for the +R TY's. Opto's have better +R support compared to their -R support. Plus @ Rima they are the same price.

From a quality stand point, both are of the highest quality media you can buy.

My Optorite drive does not support bitsetting and I have had compatiblity problems with DVD+Rs. I currently use Optodisc DVD-Rs for most stuff. These Taiyo Yudens would only be for hardcore backups and archiving, stuff that I absolutely have to be sure does not have errors so compatiblity wouldn't be an issue.

    What do you mean
Opto's have better +R support compared to their -R support.

Used over 200+ of the +R TY's and NEVER had a coaster on my Optorite,
with -R odd coaster now and again regardless of media make (very few thank god)

IMHO TY +R are one of the best media on the market.

Hope these are good. Read a lot of positive things about them on this forum. Anybody use these besides those that have already raved or bitched about them.
