  1. Hi All -

This may be a newbie question...or maybe it just can't be done as easily as I want. But I live across the country from my parents and download AVIs from my computer to theirs. I have set them up with a computer that has a S-Video connection to the TV and I have taught them to turn to channel 90 on their TV, right click on the AVI file and select "Play on my TV" from WMP 10. My parents think this is great and this is about the top of my parents computer sophistication.

However, I have media in VCD and SVCD format that I'd like for them to play as easily. On my computer in my home, I either burn the media or mount an image of the files as a drive using something like Nero ImageDrive. This works fine for me, but is a bit beyond my parents level. I could mount it remotely and start it up for them, but I want to give them (and me) more flexibility as to when they would like to play them (not to mention time zone issues).

Is there any way to configure WMP 10 (or some other software mechanism - although I would like to keep it consisitent and simple for them - they know how to work WMP 10 now) so that it's a one click way of playing the VCD/SVCD/KVCD media directly from the hard drive? Another alternative I guess would be to convert it to AVI using some tools here, but that's time consuming (I would think) for this.

Anyway, thanks for any help/advice/recommendations for the best way of keeping it simple and straight-forward for my parents.

you could try associating the .dat file inside the vcd disc to wmp10 and tell them to go in there and just double click it.
