I just did an "upgrade" from a bundled version of Nero 5.582 to 6Ultra. The bundled version would only work with the Artec 48x12x48 cd burner it came with and I wanted something other than EZ 6 Basic for my IOmega dvd 4X +\- drive. If you install Nero6U over a bundled version, UNINSTALL the old version completely first. N6U offered to upgrade, without asking for the cd key, and after the "upgrade" refused to recognize any drive and told me that my "demo" had expired. After unistalling N6U and deleting the "Ahead" folder and reinstalling N6U and restarting the computer all was well. N6U did not prompt me to restart after the install, but it wouldn't work until I did.
That said- It's great software. EZ6 wouldn't burn faster than 2x on the drive it came bundled with, N6U burns a full 4X. A 3 gig .iso took 10 minutes start to finish.

  2. I Think all you really need to do was go to the Help / Serial Number and put in a new one, that would have worked and allowed you to use your Burner, that is, if your serial would fit for 6 which I don't think it would. It's not a free upgrade from 5.5 to 6

when I installed it the second time it did ask for the serial, which I gave and all was well. The first time it offered to upgrade but didn't ask for the serial, which I thought was strange.
