DVD Writer Speed
Hi. I have a Sony DVD-R/W DWU14a Flashed to a Sony DVD-R/W DRU510a. The reason I flashed the drive was because of a media problem (I.E. I wouldn’t write to certain DVD-R’s). The flash was successful.
Now I have formatted my PC, I cannot get the drive to write at 4x speed although Nero 6 Ultra reports 4x write when burning. I have also tried the Record Now that came with the drive and its the same, seems like its writing at 2x speed.
Here are some details of my system:
Win XP Pro +SP1 (NTSF File System).
INTEL PIII 1000Mhz.
896MB SDRAM 133 – 1x512mb – 1x256mb – 1x 128mb
NVIDIA 64MB Graphics Card
DMA “enabled if possible” on all controllers.
ASPI:
I have also tried ASPI like this:
Any Help Greatly Appreciated.
Thank You.

Get rid of anything "Adaptec" on your system.

Hi. Thank you for replying, I have removed all traces of Adaptec and I get the following error when I try to open Nero Ultra 6:
When I reinstal Nero won't it just put them back?
Any suggestions?
Thank You.

Removing the ASPI didn't seem to be the correct thing to do. Do you have any other software like ROXIO EASY CD CREATOR installed on your computer? If you do uninstall it. I would suggest you reinstall the ASPI from adaptec. Then uninstall NERO, then use the NERO CLEAN TOOL that will completely remove any nero files from the registry. Then reinstall NERO. Here's is the link for the NERO CLEAN TOOL: http://www.nero.com/us/631940828445001.html

Hi. I have no other CD Recording programs installed. I have done as you suggested in the same order also.
Nero reports when 1st launched:
ASPI Display:
Going to try to burn same ISO 3999mb - Will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your help.

Hi again budz. Nero Reported 13min 34secs for a 4272 mb DVD and it has worked fantastic! - Overall time from lead in to lead out complete recording was 15min 37secs, I'm over the moon.
Thank you!
